- the 2nd IEEE TMC Europe 2009 Conference and ICE 2009, the 15th International Conference on Concurrent Enterprising
The theme of ICE 2009 is Collaborative Innovation. The direct link to the conference is http://www.ice-conference.org/. The conference is very much a meeting ground to foster the exchange of ideas amongst all the participants through some 48 paper presentations and some 20 workshops on such topics as Methods and Tools for Innovation management, Living Labs, Collaborative Environments and Systems, Networked Organisations, Advances in Concurrent Engineering, SatNav, Enterprise Interoperability, Digital Factory and more. Part of the conference's program are visits to both the Space Expo and the Concurrent Design Facilities of ESA-ESTEC, as well as to Living Labs Leiden.
Contact and registration information can be found on the ICE website. This conference is supported by a number members of the previous IEEE IEMC 2008 Conference Organization Committee: the IEEE TMC chapters in the Benelux, Germany and Portugal section and IEEE TMC Conferences USA.

- April 23, 2009 - BIM: Designing your own house and using open source? (TMC)
-
A joint event organized with the Dutch Computer Association (NGI Regio Utrecht) coming Thursday 23 April 2009 with as theme BIM – Building Information Modelling.
It a subject much in the news in the world of construction, closely related to the use of IT, BIM or Building Information Modelling. The Dutch paper "Het Financieele Dagblad" from 27 march opened their ICT Innovation page with the heading ("Doorbraak in bouwsector op komst met computermodel"). The article discusses the current problem encountered in the construction world and the advantages and opportunities in terms of cost saving, efficiencies and new creative options that BIM can bring to that. The article also concludes that government target on sustainable building can only be achieved with transparent building processes and verifiable requirements. It seems BIM is something inevitable to happen, and possibly even more likely due to the financial downturn we currently experience.
This evening session the CTO of the international operating company Nemetschek Scia, Hans Oogink, will take us through the concepts and practices of BIM. This is your chance to get first-hand knowledge and experience from Hans and to ask him your questions.
Registration is done through the NGI site. Please mention IEEE member and member number in the “opmerkingen” field to ensure you can join at no further costs. The location is Hotel De Biltse Hoek, De Holle Bilt 1, De Bilt. More details are available on the NGI site.

- 28-30 June 2008 - Lisboa, Portugal (TM)
- The first edition of IEMC-Europe, "Managing Engineering, Technology and Innovation for Growth"
Engineering is the art of science; it transforms abstract concepts into useful technology and, as such, preserves and expands human knowledge. On the other hand, knowledge is expressed by action and work and these, together with technology, provide adding value. As such, engineering becomes perhaps the most important vehicle for value creation. To achieve this goal we need the contributions of engineers, managers and economists. Furthermore, we need the views of professionals, researchers, students and professors. It is this forum that IEEE-TMC gathers for its conferences, a tradition that will be conserved in this new conferences series. This conference therefore is also a great opportunity to meet more of your fellow TMC members from Europe, as well as from the rest of the world of course.
- 23-25 June 2008 - Lisboa, Portugal (EMB, TM)
- 14th ICE Conference, "A new wave of innovation in Collaborative Networks"
The ICE conference is a premier forum to enable practitioners, researchers as well as tool vendors to present, demonstrate and share the results and achievements of their work in the broad domain of Concurrent Enterprising.

- CMaaS - Configuration Management as a Service
 - Rene Krikhaar is an assistant professor at the VU Amsterdam, department of Computer Sciences and managing director for ICT NoviQ. Rene will take us into the world of Software as a Service (SaaS) specifically into the world of configuration management, version control, release and change managment. Rene will primarily address this from a software perspective. In particular as much of the research conducted at his department is focussed on Collaborative Software Production, as software intensive systems are more and more developed by more than one organizatoon, inside a company, outside, through outsourcing and offshoring, but also using COTS.
 - 14 March 2008 - Noordwijk (TM)
- Space for Engineering Leaders
 - This event is on effective engineering processes and engineering leadership. Michel Courtois, Director of ESA-ESTEC and Massimo Bandecchi, Head of the ESA-ESTEC Concurrent Design Facility (CDF), will reflect on ESA's plans for realizing a Skunkworks type of facility as part of their plans for ESTEC-2, a new ESA Site at the "Space Business Park". And this maybe a one time opportunity to speak to Rogers Smith, who served as an engineer and testpilot at Skunkworks on the development of the famous SR-71 Blackbird Aircraft, and who will present his views on engineering leadership in a tribute to Kelly Johnson.
