- 2nd IEEE Benelux GOLD weekend: Double workshop on career development/project management and IC design

This event is divided into sessions where both soft skills and technical skills are
threated. Both are focussed on those needed by young professionals. In addition there are plenty
of social events and networking opportunities to bring those soft skills into practice.
Speakers:
IEEE R8 (EMEA) region professional activities workshop program co-founder Margaretha Eriksson, who is also a private consultant in Sweden will hold 2 interactive workshops called "Get a flying start" and "10 success factors in Project Management".
Researcher Cédric Mélange (UGent) will talk about Burst-mode IC design for
next-generation optical access. A second talk on IC design will be given by
Pravesh Kumar (ASML)"
There will be a reception, where we will welcome new graduates of Benelux section as a part of the IEEE STEP program and social activities such as city tour of Ghent.

- Two-Day Seminar on Open Innovation, NH Conference Centre Koningshof, Veldhoven
On Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October 2008 the IEEE Technology Management Councils of the IEEE Benelux and Germany Sections, the IEEE Benelux and Germany GOLD Affinity Groups and the IEEE Student Branch Eindhoven will organize an event on Open Innovation in the NH Conference Centre Koningshof in Veldhoven. Several presentations from practitioners and workshops are part of the event's program, as well as social events - a.o. a visit to the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, which is a well known museum on modern arts - and a dinner.

- GOLD Weekend for Student Members and GOLD Members from the Benelux and Germany.
During this weekend several lectures and workshops will be given about both technical subjects and management skills. The main workshop is on Design Management: how to trace the cost and predict the final price of an IC during development. It will also be explained how to start a spin-off company. Cultural and fun activities, such as a beer tasting course and a GPS city game, are included in the program as well. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking.

- The Evening of the Portfolio: how to secure your financial future through smart investment.
Stefan Duchateau, Chairman KBC Asset Management, will provide a general introduction of the current economic climate and its most important barometers. Further, he will give an overview of different ways of investing and he will tell how to construct a sound and balanced private portfolio. After that, Stephane Guerisse, senior account executive with Keytrade bank, will mainly focus on shares and he will present Keytrade's online stock trade platform.
